It’s been a while since I initially started this blog and I haven’t spent as much time here as I probably should have, but now that things are picking up, I’ve decided to start pimping it out. And while I do that, I’m also testing out a new plugin for my review later.
The plugin that I’m using is called Yahoo! Shortcuts. So far, it’s interesting to watch the progress bar in the sidebar as it searches for possible matches (so far, there’s only 1 — I expected that). The plugin is designed to find images, maps, links, and other content that would fit the theme of my post.
This can be useful as I’m always looking for images to post throughout my entries and it does get tedious (sometimes I just skip it altogether). I figure, if it can nab some images for me from Flickr and provide me with a quick way for getting it into the blog entry without needing to fiddle with my FTP program, then it’s worth it.
That’s it for now, I’ll let you all know how it goes…

It may not be intentional, but I’m beginning to think my sister is trying to sabotage my weight loss goals.
Today, while I was working out, the phone rang. (I know I probably shouldn’t have answered it, but that would have opened up an entirely different can of worms I wasn’t ready to deal with.) When my sister asked what I was doing, I huffed out a short, “exercising!” And I actually was exercising. Read more…

You should be fired.
When people are working out and following along, the last thing they need is to hear the instructor say “alright, now do XYZ” and be seeing a shot of swaying palm trees and the ocean for 5 minutes. Also, zooming in on the faces of the girls for 5 minutes does not help us see what their bodies are doing.*
Here’s a quick tip for you: Keep the camera on the instructor while she’s teaching us a move (because it’s highly likely that not everyone watching is familiar with the program) and feel free to pan around after we’ve fallen into a comfort zone and come back to her when she starts a new set of moves. And always get the full body view of the instructors even if you’re just focusing on one.
It would have been an otherwise great workout if not for that. At least I know for future reference never to bother purchasing any of the Caribbean workouts series. Thank goodness I didn’t spend any money on it, aside from the DirecTV bill.
On a happier note, I love Gilad’s workouts. They’re fun, they really work you out, and the cameramen know what they’re doing (most of the time). In fact, I’m seriously considering an investment in his DVD series — but I already have too many work out DVDs that get very little use just because I get bored with the same routine too easily.
* I believe the episode in question was number 114 – step ‘n box.

What has the world come to? Janice Dickinson is defending Jennifer Love Hewitt and calling Tyra Banks fat. Whoa, back that up…Tyra Banks is fat?
Yes, Tyra has gained weight since she retired, but she’s only up to about a size 8 in women’s dress/pant. In what mythical land is a dress size 8 not considered slim, especially when the average woman is about 12/14?
Sometimes Janice can be fun to watch, but most of the time, she seems high. (And not on life.)

Never thought I’d be writing a headline like that one for a good, long while. Unfortunately, it seems to be the only headline that fits after the run-in I just had with a manager/consultant at my local LA Fitness.
After grabbing a bite to eat (Turkey sandwich) from Starbucks, I decided — on a whim — to pop into the LA Fitness around the corner to pick up some literature about their facility and fitness programs. Read more…
