That’s what I’ve been doing a lot of lately. It wasn’t intentional, but wholly stress related.
As the new year approaches, I find myself becoming more and more stressed — it literally feels as though a hundred pounds of pressure is pressing down on me sometimes.
Unfortunately, I slip both ways; some days I don’t eat or drink at all, other days I eat and drink too much of what isn’t healthy for me. I’ve also been neglecting my exercise routines.
In fact, I haven’t really exercised in about a week. I did a 30 minute work out on Tuesday (Christmas evening) and it completely wiped me out. That’s what made me realize that I had dropped the ball on my physical fitness.
Now, here it is, Friday night and I haven’t exercised since. When I look back over the last couple weeks, I know that I need to get myself together. Get my emotions under control, renew my resolve again, and at very least, stick with my planned exercise routine. Even if that means I need to make some sacrifices and possibly disappoint some people that I care about.
Oh, and as of now, my 30 day fitness challenge has been placed on hiatus. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking planning it to start in mid-December, especially when I knew I’d been too darn busy to focus. It would have been far more appropriate to begin on the first Monday in January ‘08 and incidentally, that’s when my hiatus will be over.

It’s officially day 2 of my 30 day fitness plan and I’m feeling pretty good. My main goal during this 30 days isn’t to deprive myself so much as it’s about teaching me the value in moderation and portion sizes.
I’m back home from my 1 1/2 hour dance class and I didn’t feel very hungry at all. Having a quick (and small) snack actually helped satiate me. So, let’s back up and I’ll give you the rundown. Read more…

Cleaning out the fridge was an adventure. I found things in there I hadn’t realized were still in there. (Sad state of affairs, I know.)
But, my main reason for cleaning out the fridge aside from creating more room for the food I just bought was to remove any tempting items which would cause me to stray during this sensitive time.
When all was said and done, I had thrown out a giant garbage bag’s worth of food. And although I ended up throwing away some goodies, I feel good about it overall. Some of the items weren’t even that difficult to part with either — namely some pudding snacks and other sugary deserts. I guess that means I’m maturing as a healthy dieter.
I’m terribly sore because I worked out for 3.5 hours yesterday — aerobic, weights, toning, and dance — so I’m taking it easy today. Muscles do need some amount of recovery time, but I’m still going to do a few stretches and a few strengthening reps before bed.
Tomorrow, I’ll update on what I’ve been eating and about my grocery store adventures.

Since I’ve lost my first 4 pounds, I’ve lost another 2; total 6 pounds down and 54 left to go. Frankly, I’m not doing all that I can to lose the weight or get my fitness level where it needs to be.
After the chicken McNugget incident, it’s about time I shaped up, set some serious goals, and laid out a formal day by day plan. And that’s what I’m doing.
Thankfully I was able to make it through the next Gilad workout without quitting 15 minutes in (I made it to 25 of 30) and was able to complete the Sharon Mann workouts for a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes of exercise out of my desired 2 hours.
But during the workout, the Turbo Jam exercise system (beware, there’s video and music that starts automatically) that I purchased kept running through my mind along with a post I happened across at Kerflop.
The Turbo Jam package came with an included 10 Day Quick Start program which maps out the meals and exercises you’re supposed to do for the first 10 days and my body has been telling me that it’s ready for a thorough cleanse.
So, that’s been the basis for determining what I’ll be doing with my time and body for the next 30 days and I’ll do my best to document each of those days right here. I apologize now because it may get a little boring because it will mostly entail detailing my meals and workouts. However, I’ll do my best to explain how I’m feeling if I’m not too tired.

They tasted so good while I was narfing them down like a wild animal an hour ago, but now I’m paying the price.
Since I didn’t wake up early enough to catch my Gilad workout, I decided to put the timer on for tonight’s episode at 10pm. In my mind, the nuggets would have been digested and I’d be good to go, plus I’d eaten properly the entire day up until this evening.
I couldn’t have been more wrong; 15 minutes into the workout, which seemed rather light compared to some of the others I’ve done, I had to stop.
My chest was heaving, my lungs were dry, and my heart was beating like the bogeyman had just jumped out from under the bed. If I hadn’t stopped, I’m sure that I would have lost my dinner. Add to that I was burping up nugget flavours. (TMI, I know, sorry.)
I’m gonna try again and hopefully this time I can make it through the full workout without needing to stop.
So, let this be a lesson to you — nuggets before workout equals a very bad idea.
